Experiencing the New York City Vibe

The City-view is simply wonderful!

The Way I See It From My Big Eyes-

It feels good to jet set to a different environment and relax the mind from the daily routine. New York City is the spot where you can let go and feel the city life vibe. It has all the likes of hustle, bustle, lights, actions, noises, views, arts, shows, food and diversity of people. There’s so much to do and see. Although it can be a challenge to fit everything into a short 2 or 3-day visit, it is possible with proper planning.

For your stay, it’s smart to select a place that will be near all the popular landmarks like Times Square. This is where you will see people constantly walking the streets with a fast pace, all heading in different directions. You will see well-lit billboards containing advertisements for upcoming Broadway shows, characters dressed in costumes, television plus store ads, restaurants and so much more. Go at night so you really get the full effect of being in NYC.

Accommodations

Check out one of the newest high-rise hotel located in Manhattan. The Doubletree by Hilton has opened its 500th hotel in New York City Times Square West. Upon check-in make sure to get those signature warm chocolate chips cookies which are baked fresh daily.  The hotel has amenities such as a fully equipped workout facility, business center, conference room and it is also pet-friendly to accommodate your stay. Be aware that the room space can be rather small, but it follows the trends of newly built properties. It sits in the heart of NYC and is conveniently located near public transportation, only a skip away. If you decide to venture out and walk, i.e.  like most New Yorkers, Times Square, the Broadway Theater District, restaurants, shops, and other exciting sightings are within minutes.

For dining options, check out the American Bistro, the Magnolia Restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Be sure not to skip the Lovage Rooftop & Indoor Lounge.  If you are looking for a place to unwind, socialize, listen to the sounds of great music or indulge in a late-night cocktail and meal, head on up to the Lovage as it’s a must-see!  Go ahead and soak up the breathtaking beautiful Skyline views of Manhattan.  The scenery and beauty alone will put your mind to a place of serenity and relaxation.

Things to Do –

TV Shows – Live Audience Tapings

There are countless activities to see and do while visiting NYC. One of my favorite things to do is to visit Good Morning America at the ABC Studios. The crew starts setting up the barricades before 6 am. You don’t want to be late as you may miss an opportunity to be up and close with the cast. You want to position yourself up close and oh, here’s a tip, wear something that’s fun and eye catching. Be sure to show lots of energy and excitement. You are in for a treat and it’s a great production to watch. Another tip, if you happen to get inside for second half of the taping, you will have an opportunity to take pictures with the cast members.  So fun, it’s FREE!  To secure tickets to popular TV show tapings like Good Morning America, Dr. Oz, The View, The Rachel Ray, Steve Colbert, The Wendy Williams Show, Saturday Night Live, and much more simply go to https://www.nycgo.com or http://1iota.com/Tickets.

Bookstore Conversations

You never know who you might be walking in the streets of NYC. Check out one of the incredible local bookstores called The Drama Book Shop, Inc. located at 250 W 40th St. #1 New York, NY 10018. It is one of the oldest bookstores in the city and has an amazing selection of books for all facets of theater production. Visit if you are interested in the arts, music, authors, biographers, trade papers etc. as the staff is more than willing to assist. They are known for hosting book signings and discussions with the authors. Be sure to show up early for the event as the seating downstairs holds about 75 people. It is cozy, intimate and up close and very personal. There will be opportunities for a question and answer session too. For more information go to http://www.dramabookshop.com/

Restaurants

There’s not a shortage of restaurants in New York City. If BBQ fits your style, check out one of the best BBQ spots known as Dallas BBQ. Be sure to try the Hennessey Wings, and yes you can taste the Hennessey, don’t worry, not enough to get tipsy.

When your taste calls for mouthwatering dessert, I highly recommend stopping by Juniors Cheesecake. Oh, it’s so rich, creamy and deliciously tasty. My favorite flavor is strawberry, however, there are tons of others to try.

If you want a more New York-ish feel, why not hop on the subway and experience a ride over to other popular sites like Harlem for Soul Food at Sylvia’s, Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn for New York styled pizza or even stop by Little Italy for an authentic Italian dish. There are day and night tours available which will allow you to hop on and off as you like.

Be sure to plan your trip before you leave to alleviate paying high rates for travel, activities, and attractions. Currently, it’s peak season in New York City, however, keep watching out for those getaway price drop deals on Expedia.com and Priceline.com.
